Why B.Tech in mechanical with specialization in automotive engineering is not considered as an individual B.Tech degree?

Hi,
Who said MAE is not considered as a B.Tech degree. If is it so, then colleges should have shut down this branch.
However, your thinking about MAE is right because nowadays, there are a number of specializations offered in B.Tech. Unfortunately, there isn't any materialisation of the same.
