University of Mysore admissions are both merit & entrance-based. The university conducts the PGEE for all the available PG courses that the university offers. Additionally, the university also accepts national or even state-level entrance examinations for admission to specific programmes. The entrance examinations accepted are MAT, CAT, Karnataka PGCET, KCET, etc. The university releases a merit list to announce the names of shortlisted aspirants.

The requirement of entrance exam varies course-wise at University of Mysore. The university considers scores in CAT, MAT, Karnataka PGCET, GATE, etc. for admission to specific courses. Aspirants having optional English in BA/ BSc, BA Performing Arts/ BA B.Ed (Regional Institute of Education) degree or PG Diploma in English of the university with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST/ Cat-I language English students are not eligible to apply for admission or to appear for entrance test for MA English.

Aspirants who have passed BCom/ BBM/ BBA from UOM or any other university with at least 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST/ CAT-I candidates) are eligible to apply for MCom programme at University of Myore. Candidates should have relevant documents proving their eligibility for verification at the time of admission.
