why coppers does not react with hydrochloric acid

Hi Humayun. Copper belongs to the noble metals (a metal that resists corrosion and oxidation when exposed to air). These stand in the row after hydrogen and are not affected by non-oxidizing acids, which is why it is not dissolved by hydrochloric acid. All the best. Regards Gijoo
