Why do people think that engineering is useless? Why do people make funny videos on engineers?

Hello friends, one of my questions is that now there is a need for engineers in India, then why the engineers are so helpless.

These people who make fun of engineering are not aware of its use and advantages. But, at the same time in some families students are forced to pursue this course without considering their interest. This creates pressure in the minds of the students and they go depress.
But yes, I agree one must not make fun of this creative subject.

Now, it is a self-contradicting question.
In fact, the number of engineering students is increasing from year to year, and it may be at the cost of science students. And so, the quality of engineers is decreasing - inversely proportional to the growth in numbers.
The quality of lecturers in engineering colleges is poor. Mainly due to the fact, good students of these colleges become engineers, while those who couldn't get a job of engineer become teachers. The exception is only for those few - who like the profession or get the job in their city of residence.

The fact that most Indian Parents want their child's future to be respectful and bright, they tend to make their children opt for Engineering and medical the most. Over a period of time, we have developed stereotypes related to the same. We all know how engineering takes a lot of hard work and a student tends to seclude himself from family and friends. Now there is this popular notion among youngsters that engineers don't have time for relationships. this might soun

    Hello,
20 years ago, typical jobs like CA and engineering were so much in demand. But as times have changed, off-beat jobs like Blogging, Fashion, etc., are trending. Why engineers are mocked? It is so, because they don't have the aptitude and interest in the craft, but just pursue because of pressure or because they think they are good in PCM. The real thing is that engineering students should love machines and innovation like no one. Our education system has ruined the craft and interest of students. Why don't they get jobs? There is no demand. So, no jobs. Graduates don't have the skills. Graduates outnumber the people in demand.

This is because the admission in any engineering college has become too easy and common these days. Persons who don't have any interest in engineering are pursuing B.Tech. Hence, there are so many engineers at least one in a home now. So they can't get job and apply for jobs which requires very less qualifications. Hence engineers had become a content of joke now.

    Hello Abhishek,
Good question. It is simply because engineering had a lot of value 20 years back , but it is not the case now as it is the most out-dated degree today. Why? It is because machines have replaced humans. They have become modern.

Reason is quality. In India, the number of graduates each year in engineering is nearly INR. 17 lac. We have more than 7 thousand colleges for engineering. Out of them, only 5 percent justify themselves as a true engineer. Nearly 30 percent secure a job for them. But, what about rest. As you said the rest is busy in making fun videos and all other activities but what is the reason. The reason is the quality of the education they got. Here not only college but the student is equally responsible. One as an engineer should grasp some practical knowledge rather than just passing the exam he or she should do something which can make him com

I agree with the drop in quality of growing engineers being the reason we are made fun of. But, the way we have crafted the education system, academics is not much cared about, and so they say engineers aren't very dedicated to studying.
