Why do people want to get into government jobs? Is it true that private jobs are not as good as government jobs?

My parents also said I should go for government jobs but I want a private job in an international company.

Private sector is obviously good and you get heavily paid. But you don't have job guarantee, etc. Government sector jobs salary might be less, but people choose it for job surety, facilities, etc. In government jobs you can sometimes do fraud, cheat and earn illegally more than legal.
