The UPSC CSE interview stage is the final stage of the IAS exam, and only a few hundred get recommended every year. There are many reasons why so many aspirants fail at this stage:
1. The selection ratio is very low due to the low number of vacancies. Only one out of every three candidates interviewed makes the final cut.
2. Lower marks in the main stage have an impact on interview marks as well. Many aspirants fail simply because their score in the Mains is very low. This stage is worth a total of 1750 marks, whereas the interview is only worth 250.
