Why is hydrogen ion not a metal?

Hi Jaid, In some modern classification hydrogen is an sui generis (I.e. of its own type) element and does not fit in any of the other classification types. In fact, hydrogen does not lose any electron in the scope of the Chemistry, since the energies to promote its ionization are forbidden in chemical terms and as long as one proton became free of its electron, quickly it attaches itself to a molecule or atom (in this case, to catch another electron) in order to be electrically neutral again. Within the Physics and Astrophysics, can one find free hydrogen cations, I.e., protons. But whether they are short living states, transient states of hydrogen atoms. For that sake, protons in cosmic rays, for example, are not taken as hydrogen cations, albeit they could be thought that way. By other hand, hydrogen could acquire an electron, becoming a hydride anion. But even so, hydrogen is not considered neither a metal and not a nonmetal. Alas, neither a noble gas. All the best.
