Why is it difficult to apply for the University of British Columbia than other universities like UOT, Waterloo?

Obviously because it is highly ranked, the higher the ranking tougher is to get admission. If you look at it the reverse way they are highly ranked because they are selective. Universities must be selective and competitive in their admission process so that they produce good students. I hope you got some clarity. And by the way, UOT which I believe is University of Toronto is also very competitive and in par with UBC.
