Why is it harder to get into UCLA than UC Berkeley?

The acceptance rate of UCLA is 9%, whereas the UC Berkeley acceptance rate is 12%. However, there is a very slight difference in the acceptance percentage, the University of California Los Angeles follows more stringent selection criteria for admission as compared to UC Berkeley. Both universities prioritize factors such as the rigor of secondary high school records, academic GPA, application essays, extracurricular activities, and more. UCLA also provides more career and research opportunities than UC Berkeley which makes it tough to enter.
