Why is VLSI Design important?

Without VLSI design, many of the electronic devices that we rely on today would not have been possible.&nbsp;</p><p>We have mentioned some related examples of why VLSI design is important:</p><ul><li><strong>Smartphones:</strong> Smartphones are some of the most varsatile electronic devices ever created. They contain millions of transistors and are packed with features such as high-resolution displays, powerful cameras, and fast processors. VLSI design is essential for creating smartphones that are small, lightweight, and affordable.</li><li><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:r9:" data-state="closed"><strong>Computers: </strong>Computer is one of the most typical examples of the complex electronic devices that rely on the use of VLSI design. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:ra:" data-state="closed">Every new computer model is built with billions of transistors, with some of the new models being able to do trillions of calculations in a second. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:rb:" data-state="closed">Through VLSI design techniques it becomes possible to build computers that are highly capable and at the same time cheap also.</span></li><li><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:rc:" data-state="closed"><strong>Automotive electronics:</strong>&nbsp;VLSI design is also applied for designing electronics in the automobiles like anti lock braking systems, air bags and navigation systems. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:rd:" data-state="closed">These systems are being used for safety and convenience where VLSI circuits play a significant role in the operations of these systems.</span></li><li><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:re:" data-state="closed"><strong>Medical devices:&nbsp;</strong>It is also applied in medical appliances like pacemakers, MRI machines, etc., and cochlear implants. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:rf:" data-state="closed">These devices tend to be rather sophisticated and frequently entail the use of application-specific VLSI circuits.</span></li></ul><p>Hope it helps !</p>
