Why LPU is not AICTE approved?

Hello mate. There is actually no need to be approved by AICTE since Lovely Professional University is already recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). AICTE approval is not required for a university to run a course in technical education as has been held by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in its judgment CWP2056 of 1999 titled BHARATHIDASAN UNIVERSITY & ANR. V/S ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION & ORS, and various other cases. LPU provides great academic exposure to its students. It is a UGC-approved university that has been ranked well by various agencies on the basis of its infrastructure, its faculty, its placements, its teaching practices, etc. The university provides ample opportunities to each and every eligible student to secure a good placement. Special inputs in the form of professional enhancement classes are given to students to better their skills and prepare them for placements. LPU has various rankings and accreditation. As per the Supreme Court ruling only technical institutions need to be approved by AICTE, however for the universities it is not mandatory. LPU is a full fledged independent university approved by UGC. In addition to it, LPU is also affiliated with the Distance Education Council. LPU is also affiliated with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA) and approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). LPU was the first university to get an approval from ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research). LPU has ACBSP accreditation as well as holds an affiliation with Bar Council of India (BCI). __________.

Hello Virat, your concern is genuine. Let me tell you LPU does not have an AICTE approval because it does not require it. LPU is an independent university. AICTE approval is not required for a university to run a course in technical education as has been held by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in its judgment CWP2056 of 1999 titled Bharathidasan University & ANR. V/S ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION & ORS, and various other cases UGC-approved is better as it will be internationally recognised. The Universities established by an Act of Central or State Government are valid Universities. Degree awarded by a valid University and specified by UGC under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956 is recognised, subject to the approval of the programme by the concerned Statutory Professional Council (s), wherever applicable.

In Indian legislation, the universities which have been granted UGC accreditation may design and offer their own programs without further AICTE accreditation. This underlines the independence of LPU and good academic structure. The university is guided by AICTE and tries to structure its technical and professional programs that ensure high standards of education. Moreover, a significant number of the engineering and management programs of the LPU have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and globally known to be of quality and innovations.
