Why mba colleges asks for marriage status?is it necessary to answer?

There are two things
1. The marriage status field might not be mandatory
2. If in case it is mandatory, than it could be used for gauging the accommodation requirements for the married students.

I think there is no answer if you answer it right. They will ask your marital status so as to support you get family accommodation etc...
