I personally feel that with such an emerging retail market, there are tremendous job opportunities in supply chains, departmental stores, supermarkets, advertising agencies etc.
Skilled retail managers are required in manufacturing companies, insurance, banking to convey their commodities directly to the customers.
One can work in insurance companies, advertising agencies, banks, airlines, shops, cafes, provision stores, logistic firms etc.
So getting specialized in the field will surely help an individual to gain profit and achieve the career goal. -

2012-12-05 16:18:55I launched PGDM in Retailing in 2003 as founding Director of International School of Business & Media (ISB&M) had designed and taught the core papers to the students with the expectation of Indian retailing will do great as I was new to Indian environment after 20 years of international career. However, Indian retail companies did not meet the expectations as all owned and managed by typical 'Lalas' who are neither willing to pay reasonably nor do respect a Masters degree holder by allowing sufficient time off for maintaining work life balance. 2012-12-05 09:51:37Well MBA in Retail is actually a good specialization especially when malls have become latest destination of buyers and brands are all what they care; price of the product is no longer a matter of concern.
