Yes, you may. But a work permit has been made compulsory since 2014, as a part of the study permit for international students, who want to get into off-campus employment, for up to 20 hours every week. Also, before you start working, you will have to obtain your Numero d’assurance sociale (NAS) or Social Insurance Number (SIN) in order to work and earn in Canada.
