There are lots of students who take one or two year of drop to crack competitive examination such as CAT or XAT. Most of the recruiters condone few years of gap during campus placement if candidate meets their eligibility requirements.

If you have a genuine reason for your gap, you will not face any problem.

If you have a gap of 1 year, then you can try to get admission through CAT exam as it is tough. You can check this with the placement officer directly, rather than any other authority of your favorite college. To get core finance job, ITI is good to have with 55% to 60% up to graduation.
