Will it be a time waste if I do 5 months course of industrial automation like PLC, SCADA or HMI after completing B.Tech EE?

I have just completed B.Tech electrical engineering. I didn't get placement from my college. I am involved in automation training at IIATCA-Kolkata. I know industrial automation will have a bright scope. Am I wasting my time?
