Will my selection of good colleges become limited if I take admission on the basis of lateral entry in B.Tech?

Lateral entry is not available in IITs and NITs only. Otherwise, each state university conducts its own entrance exam for lateral entry students. So, you can get good colleges also after doing Diploma in engineering.

Yes, after completing Diploma engineering, you can easily get government colleges. Moreover, after completing Diploma in engineering, you can appear for government exams. You will gain more knowledge in comparison with normal students.
