work experience before MBA is not necessary in India but if you have workex you can understand the management concepts much better as they connect you to the real world

You need to appear for CAT/CMAT/MAT/ATMA-AIMS/Local Entrance examinations as applicable to your institute, based on which you can apply for the course. Work experience wil not be mandatory for a regular course, but may help you during the course.
