Would it be apt to take finance as major and business analytics as minor in PGDM (1st year) to do finance modelling certification alongside?

Dear Sandeep,
Firstly, the requirement of Financial Modelling is very much even at Bachelor's level. However, it may (or may not) be necessary to have certification on Financial Modelling. Secondly, since you are willing to take your major as Finance and minor as business analyst, you will be taught

What you should do depends upon what you want to be! I feel like you want to go for Analytics (Finance). So in this regards, you must have the good knowledge of Technicals (SQL, Office, SAS etc.) and Financial (modelling, valuations: DCF, LBO, TEV etc. ). It really helps you a lot when you go for On
