Hi,
You should definitely consider enhancing your educational qualifications at this stage. One of the best approaches while deciding on your career is to look at doing something that you are good at and would enjoy. The medical lab technician profession includes generalists as well as individuals qualified in a number of specialized areas of expertise including microbiology/virology, hematology, immunology, transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, endocrinology, toxicology, cytogenetics, pathology and molecular diagnostics. Integral features of each of the specialties may include research, consultation, education, information management, marketing and administration. After your B.sc you can go in for M.Sc MLT which would be the direct progression. You could also go in for M.Sc microbiology, bioinformatics etc. You could also opt for clinical research training through courses offered by various institutes (icriindia.com, cliniminds.com, Academy for clinical excellence), which will equip you for a career in clinical trials/clinical research. You can also go in for the MS-MLT — Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology is a three-year special programme offered by BITS (Pilani) as an off-campus course for eligible graduates in life sciences, conducted at the Vidyasagar Institute of Biomedical Technology and Science (VIBS) in the premises of Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. For further details regarding the course you can check the website: sankaranethralaya.org. Even a MBA in hospital management/Healthcare and hospital administration would leverage your qualification.
whether there is any difference in Correspondence and Regular course, i would say it varies from one subject to the other also from one degree to the other. However in general a course through distance learning does not have as much value as the regular one so if you can do a regular course, it would hold a lot of importance and thus be a much better option. The acceptability and recognition of a full time course is higher in industry and the long term career gains are good. Correspondence courses are ideally meant for those who are working and cannot leave their jobs to further their education.
