In one way, you have done a good thing, as you will get a plenty of time to revise all your syllabus once again. But, be aware that you should not lose your concentration away from your studies in such a long gap. But, it is better, if you attend exam this year also, because you can get some live experience about the examination.

If you think you can pass the JEE exams in the 1st attempt, you don't need to waste your one year.
Only, you can know your capabilities so think wisely and carefully and then only come to any conclusion.

    Hi friend,
There is not any risk type problems. Every year, about 3 to 4 Lacs. Students take a drop for one year course. Many students regret when they take admission in any other colleges. If you have got the opportunity go for it. It's a matter of self confidence.
    All the best.

Since like two phases of a coin there are two aspect that you may face when you take a drop either you will devote your whole time to study and to prepare for the entrance exam with doing focused study apart from other fun. Or the second you may either spoil your whole year, so it depends upon you what to choose. Do self-analysis and do accordingly. Best of luck.

The most important thing to consider at this stage is that were you able to give your 100% this year. If not, you should definitely drop without any second thought. Also, as mentioned in another answer, you should not get hindered away from your goal. For that, I advise you to take coaching and a PG near it in any of the main city near your house from where you can visit your home weekly.
