Apart from good comm. skills & fair amount of creativity, what are the other skills that are required to be able to do well in mass comm.?

Mass communication is the study of how humans exchange information through mass media to massive segments of the population at the same time. In other words, mass communication refers back to the imparting and exchanging of information on a large scale to a wide variety of people. It is usually understood to relate newspaper, magazine, and book publishing, as well as radio, television and film, even via internet as these mediums are used for disseminating information, news and advertising and marketing. Mass communication differs from the studies of different forms of communication, such as interpersonal communication or organizational communication, in that it specializes in a single source transmitting information to a big number of receivers. The study of mass communication is mainly concerned with how the content material of mass communication persuades or otherwise affects the behavior, attitude, opinion, or emotion of the person or people receiving the information.

To be a successful mass media personnel, you need to have the following skills: 1. Content Writing: Communicating your ideas efficiently in a written form is of utmost importance. Presenting a good and a clear content is an essential skill. 2. Command on language: Having a good command on the language along with the thorough knowledge of grammar is essential for any media professional. 3. Multi-tasking: A good media professional needs to be multi-tasking in order to achieve the targets under the deadlines. 4. Sense of Timing: This one goes for the anchors, reporters, radio jockeys and every media professional who delivers the speech in real time. The ability to condense, expand, modify your words as per the need should be known to a good media professional. 4. Marketing skills: If you are looking to make a career in advertising or public relations, marketing your brand is of great importance to flourish in the industry. 5. An eye for detail and observation: This is again a very important skill for all media professionals including photographers, camera person, journalists, etc.

This is interesting to add to the list of pre-requisites for doing well in Mass Communication. I must admit that Good Communication Skills, Creativity and to add from my side, General Awareness are the three essentials of doing well in Any Work or job or Career or Profile. The list of more skills will include: 1. Languages 2 Content Writing-Specialisation 3. Digital Marketing/Social Media Smartness Skills 4. Public Relations Management 5. Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Skills 6. Leadership and Team Work 7. Reading Skills as well as Speaking 8. Importantly- Critical Thinking Skills I shall also suggest that the fair amount of creativity shall also include a fair amount of adaptability and firmness in mass communication. Honest Approach is also one of the required aspects of someone who works in the Media and Mass Communication.
