Can chartered accountants (ICAI) become CEOs of companies?

    Thanks for A2A.
    Yes CAs are most eligible to become CEOs. There are many in public and private sectors like Mr Rameswar Thakur, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Mr. Shekhar Kapoor and many more CAs are CEOs.
    The training and experience gained through CA route are very helpful when stepping up to CEO position.But being CEO is not an easy job. It requires extra qualities like people management, managerial skills e.t.c.
    As pointed out in the earlier answer a CEO must be a clear visionary, an excellent communicator and most importantly a good strategist.
    Doing CA does give you the opportunity and the qualification to take up the job.

    There is no such thing that only Chartered Accountant can be or A Chartered Accountant can't be a CEO.
    For the position of CEO, most important thing is the manegerial skills, as the CEO has to manage the whole organisation, now to attain those manegerial skills people usually opt MBA.
    If a CA has those manegerial skills, education, experience, critical thinking skills, diligence, attitude along with technical knowledge then he/she can become a CEO.

    Ability to get integrated with every aspects of business is what can make a CA become CEO. Most of the Chartered Accountant I have seen in my work experience are very conservative in nature and keep themselves confined to finance vertical only and don't get out of their comfort zone. I personally believe that they are in the best position to get 2 feet deeper and 10 feet wider idea about all the aspects of business, from marketing to tech.
