    Hi,
Appearing in CAT exam during your third year of B.Tech would be beneficial for you as you can have a prior understanding of the exam setting. Unfortunately, as per the eligibility criteria mentioned for appearing in the CAT exam, you need to be in the final year of your degree in order to apply for CAT exam.
I would like to quote directly from the iimcat website, to avoid any confusion, it says:
"Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
However, it may be noted that such candidates, if sele

Yes, you can. It would help you in a huge way if you are going to do MBA for sure once you are done with your graduation. You can apply for some coaching class for mock tests. Mock tests would help you in preparation. Or if you want you can join the classes as well. Many classes nowadays provide feature like if you are not able to get into the college that you want you can sit for their lectures in next year again. You get access to their online study material as well. As you would give the CAT exam while you are in the final year of your graduation you will get an idea about how entrance exams are in nature. Thus, even if you are not

    Hi,
To be quite forthright, yes, you can appear for CAT during the pre-final year of your undergrad itself. However, you need to know that the validity of CAT score is only for that particular year so even if you manage a brilliant score, you should not expect admission calls.
However, if you intend to appear for CAT from a practice point of view so that you are better prepared when you appear for the actual year and seek admission then it is a highly appreciable idea. It will give you a good understanding of what the real exam feel and format is going to be like, so that you can come better prepared on the hygiene factors in the coming

You most definitely can appear for CAT in the 3rd year of your B.Tech to get a feel of how the test environment is and what kind of questions are there on the test. This will help bring you in the right mental state and will help you plan right for the preparation.
However, you won't be able to join a college even if you score a good percentile because you need to complete your under graduation before jumping into the MBA college.
So, I would recommend you take the test to get a feel of the difficulty level and where you stand. That way it will very easy for you to evaluate your weak areas and where you have to work. Moreover, you have u

Yes, you can apply for CAT exam but you will not able to use this CAT score to get admission after you complete your B.Tech because the CAT score is valid only for one year. So, there will no use of giving CAT exam. If you really want to take the feel of CAT exam, you can apply for it but when you will seriously prepare for the CAT exam, there will be enough number of Mocks which will provide you the feel of CAT. Sometime bad CAT score can be demotivating. So, I advise you to study smart and hard now for a year. And, when you are done with your preparation please do join Test series of any reputable coaching institute (like TIME, CL, I
