GATE is for M.Tech and PSUs. And IIMs deal with study of management and they take admission through CAT. So, it will be better if you try your luck in IITs and NITs.

Admission to IIMs is based on Combined Admission Test called CAT. IIM do not use GATE score. GATE score is used by IITs and other colleges for admission in M.Tech.

To get admission in IIMs, you need to clear the CAT with minimum 90 percentile score. It is mandatory to give CAT for business management studies in IIMs. GATE is mandatory and required for IITs for M- Tech.

GATE is not for pursuing MBA. Appear for CAT to get into IIMs. Above this, you need to be a graduate in any field with 50% and above marks.
