Can I get into top B-schools without appearing for an entrance exam?

Your answer is probably no. There are some criteria that every B-School check before admission. There are generally three steps before getting admission. First includes your written test. Second one is Group Discussion (GD) and the third one is Personal Interview (PI). Most of the written test is done through checking the scores of Common Aptitude Test (CAT) or Management Aptitude Test (MAT). There are some institute that have their own Aptitude Test like Xavier have Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), Symbiosis have Symbiosis Aptitude Test (SAT), etc. After you qualify the written test you will be sitting for a Group Discussion (GD). Most of the people have a perception that Group Discussion (GD) is an elimination round, but actually Group Discussion (GD) is the stage where you get selected from the mass and it's the Personal Interview (PI) where a candidate is eliminated. Hi, You cannot get into any good business schools without appearing for an entrance exam and also getting the required percentage or score needed for each institute. The entrance exam only acts as a screening process to shortlist the number of applicants. Post this, you will have other admission process which include group discussion, presentation skills, verbal test, personal interview, etc. This process might change from college to college. There are many entrance exams with different difficulty levels. The popular ones are CAT, MAT, CMAT and XAT. CAT and MAT are the most accepted scores. If you would rather write a simpler entrance exam, I would recommend, that you attempt MAT, as it is much easier than the others. However, if you have a particular college, you would like to get admission in, I suggest that you check their website for eligibility criteria.

Probably it’s not possible to go into top B-schools without appearing for an entrance exam. Getting into top B-Schools isn't that simple. Number of competitors looking for a seat in B-schools and IIMs are high. Therefore, there is an overwhelming response for the exams. You should focus on preparation in three area- Written Test, GD/What and PI. Most of these exams focus on analytical skills which include your quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning and verbal reasoning. So prepare for these three areas. In case of GD and PI you have to religiously follow newspaper daily and learn the art of opinion making. Also you have to practice writing short essays too. For PI you have to practice preparing interview questions asked in the interview process in B-schools. Overall smart preparation would suffice for cracking into the B-schools.

No. Getting into top B-Schools is not that easy. There are lakhs of aspirants who look a seat in major B-schools and IIMs.Therefore, there is a heavy demand for seats.Thus they take into consideration 3 factors: 1.Entrance exam-MAT and CAT. 2.Group discussion. 3.Personal Interview. Some of the top campuses look for quality candidates for their campus for better results. Such campuses are Christ, alliance, KJSIMSR, Welingkar, Jaipuria, etc. These campus conduct exams on their own or will take the results of CAT or MAT for admission. Cracking CAT is not that easy. Some tips for these exams include: Select one of the best coaching centers which offer quality education- TIME is one of the famous coaching centers for CAT and MAT. Dedication- Be focused on the aim which you need to achieve. Try to read Hindu newspaper editorial. Most of the passages which appear in MAT are from Hindu editorial.Try to do a maximum number of online mock test. You will definitely clear MAT by doing the above. There is no option other than the entrance exam so use the above tips and crack the exam and get into good B-Schools.

The answer is maybe. Most of the top B-Schools including IIMs, ISB and IITs offering MBAs do not allow admission through management quota. So giving the entrance exam (CAT) is a must. There are some of the private B-Schools which are pretty good which offer admission through management quota. Some of such colleges are: 1. Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Pune 2. XLRI School of Business and Human Resource, Jamshedpur 3. S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai 4. Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad 5. Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon 6. Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA), Ahmedabad 7. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai 8. Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi etc. 9. ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad 10.Symbiosis Centre for Management & Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Pune 11. Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Mumbai But I wouldn't suggest going for management quota. Try for yourself and appear for the entrance and crack it.

This would not only maintain the reputation of the Institutes but also would make sure that only the students with high skills and knowledge secure a seat.
