Can I teach political science as Assistant Prof. in colleges? I have NET in Political Science and a MA in Peace and Conflict Studies (TISS).

Is a traditional M.A. degree more preferred for teaching in colleges? In this case not having a M.A. In Political Science, and instead having an allied/inter-disciplinary degree will be a disadvantage?

Clearing NET-Assistant Professor makes you eligible to apply for faculty positions in any university functioning in India. However, do understand that clearing NET merely makes you eligible.

    Hi Mridugunjan,
Yes, you can definitely teach political science in colleges as you have qualified the NET exam in political science. It doesn't matter if you had studied M.A in peace and conflict studies. It all depends on your talent that how you will teach the subject.
    Good luck.
