1. National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
While NIT Durgapur, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Patna, NIT Hamirpur, etc. may offer admission in branches such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering under OBC-NCL with your rank, the cutoff generally varies between each rounds of JoSAA and depends on the branch, but some admission will be possible in any of such lower demand branches.
2. Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs)
There are branches like Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) or Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), but your rank might place you such that it leads to branches which are a little on the lesser competitive front, for example, IIIT Allahabad, IIITDM Jabalpur.
3. Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs)
With branches like Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, colleges like the Assam University (Silchar), Bengal Engineering and Science University, or Indraprastha Institute of Technology are going to unlock the admission doors to you at such ranks.
4. Some newer NITs or IIITs
Though the initial rounds of JoSAA counseling will have a high cutoff for these newer NITs and IIITs, subsequent rounds may see admission opportunities at this rank.
Branch Preferences
You may have better chances of getting into lesser-known or newer branches, such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and the like.
Key Important Points:
Cutoff according to the rounds: "The cutoff marks fall down in the next rounds," so it is always advisable to keep track of the results, counseling wise, through JoSSA for many rounds.
Branch Preference: Other than few branches competitive, there are those like Computer Science, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering which command special cut offs as compared to Civil or Chemical Engineering.
