I don't think so because now a days so many institutions provide short term courses of certification for Fashion Designing, you no need to go for college for this. You can learn it by yourself, all you need is hardwork and dedication.

Yes college is very important for fashion design degree. Fashion design is a core practical course and you can not learn practical via online classes in detail. If you want good hand on practical then you have to join the college. Good college is also important for fashion design because every college will not provide you good practical exposure and industrial knowledge. Practical things we can learn when we do it with our hand under the guidance of experts. PCTE group of institutes, Ludhiana is providing B.Sc. Fashion Design which is approved from I. K. G. Yes 100%. Fashion design and other areas of design (Interior, Product, service, etc. ). Are all growing in leaps and bounds. There are increasingly more opportunities in this area. Only a good college can give you a great perspective. However, select the college carefully. It should provide you with good faculty, infrastructure (labs, galleries, etc. ), placement opportunity and the most recent trends. Online or part time courses often fall short in these areas. Woxsen School of Arts & Design will be a great choice from each of these areas. The campus itself is a sprawling 200-Acre one, faculty are from the best colleges across the wor...more

6 years agoNot necessary. This is reqd only if you want to do a job. Else freelancer no need of degree. But college gives you a like minded friend circle helpful to interact on common topics of interest. -
Statistically if we see then I can present you 100+ examples of people who are successful in fashion design but they didn't have any fashion degree. Then the question arises what to do. The following is the thing you can do -
1. Create you personal blog and keep adding your luracative art piece.
2. Create a FB page and gain many followers and with them start some kind of fashion series. If it's good you yourself will come in lame light.
3. Create your fashion team and with them win different relevant trophies. Now you had good experience which I think many companies prefer to.
4. You can also put you best art work tagged with CEO of big...more -
Ofcourse its important and necessary to learn from an institution. Because in any professional and skilled course you have to be in environment of that field so that you with every step you enhance yourself. If you are under the guidence of the professionals not only learn new things but also can measure your mistakes and correct them. You will get experience from other students also. So it is better to join an institute in fashion designing rather than going for online course they are also good but some time the companies won't consider it. And there is a lots to do in fashion market I agreed. GOOD LUCK.

7 years agoIt's not a necessity because if you look back, many of the greatest designers did not attend college. However, it would definitely help because you'll get to learn different techniques and get exposure which you won't get without it. -
