You may be a creative person by birth but there are several aspects you need to learn to make it a professional career. Having said that you also need to learn the basics of pattern making so that you know how to culminate the design into a garment. Also you will learn about colour mixing and visualization and learn optical illusions one need to create while designing. All these and much more cannot be learnt from distant or from internet. You need to do the practical to learn them. Moreover a degree in this area will help give you recognition as a fresher and help getting a job.

College is a necessity. You may be creative, but you are recognized by your qualification. An academic background is highly essential. So, make it a conventional qualification.
