Do I need to pursue MBA to get a job in an international airline?

Hello, To get a job in an international airline, there are plenty of ways. In fact, it's similar to getting employed by an Indian career. You can get Commercial Pilot's License and then join any airlines. You can do a cabin crew course and join as a cabin crew. You can get training of dispatcher and join as a flight dispatcher. You can do a course in finance and join as a finance person. You can join their customer relations department. All these and some more means are available to join airlines. Be that as it may, you can definitely and surely join after completing your MBA also. In fact, after MBA you can join in any fairly higher management position in any department. In fact, many carriers are always looking for dynamic young management trainees to groom them and absorb them completely in the company.

MBA is a qualification which ensures profile in Management or Marketing or HR or Finance etc. In international airlines, all such departments are very much existing and from time to time vacancies are announced asking for candidates who possess experience and educational qualification as per the standards. In aviation, requirements are very specific for certain roles where they require MBA + experience in the same industry for a good amount of time to secure a job. It is so because the requirements for aviation differ at various points from that of other industries. So, even if freshers or candidates with low experience are hired, they are provided a training as per the standard operating procedures of the airline. Hence, MBA added with some certifications in Airline operations can be a good choice of education to secure a job as a fresher in industry.

The level of education required in order to secure a job in International airlines depends on the position one is looking for. Usually, for the post of cabin crew, a person needs to have passed 10+2 and must possess excellent English speaking skills. They must also have a positive attitude and be mentally active and have good situational awareness. Having experience working as a cabin crew in a domestic airline before applying for an international airline is also an added benefit. For the post of ground staff, usually airlines look for graduates in any field who possess sufficient information in operating computers and have good communication skills. Even for the post of flight crew, a pilot only needs to have cleared 10+2 with maths and physics. Talking about MBA, it would only be required if a person is looking forward to work in the management department. But a person working in any of the above mentioned posts can always pursue an MBA while already working in an airline and can slowly move up the ladder in the management of the airline if they wish to do so.

Dear! Whether you need to do MBA or not, it will depend upon which post or designation you are dreaming for? For technical post: MBA is not required. What you need to do is M.Tech (or ME) in aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering from any recognised University. Although, you can do your M.Tech in mechanical, electronics or information technology but this specialisation helps you a lot in the international aviation industry. Here you can work as a flight engineer, plane manufacturer, technical advisor, etc. For Management or Operation post: Yes! you need to do MBA. If you are willing to be a Manager in international airlines then a combination of B.Tech + MBA is appreciated because, with this combination, you develop the skills of technician and Managers as well. Hence, it is a perfect fit for the aviation sector. So, it all depends upon your career path, your destination that if you have to pursue MBA or not! Hope this helps. Good luck.
