No, the salary structure not solely depends on if you are Ph.D or not, because Senior Scientists and Junior Scientists both are Ph.D holders. The salary structure depends upon other factors too like; your Organization, your Research field (area of expertise), your industrial experience, most importantly your patents or IPs, how successful your thesis was, the scalability or potentialities in that sector.
