generally its on merit based and also there are some, if someone gets good rank and marks there are statewise scheme and also chief ministers scheme which you can apply for and the amount of money through scholarship ranges between 10000 rs average for year, whose financial situation is not so good even they can apply for scholarship there are provision under chief minister scheme, sc st have special reserved scholarship applicable for them .
