If ii were in charge of running a college, first I will provide support for digitalization to teachers and students and also, the necessity to explore digital learning platforms. Education is an essential tool for skilling the budding minds. I am sharing the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NCU experience during the lockdown period. Under the present circumstances, when movement and resources are restricted, the only possibility is a digital classroom, effectively using Information and Communication Technology (ICT). At NorthCap University, we shifted to digital Classrooms using Microsoft Teams for delivering lectures, submission of assignments, and quizzes.

If I'm in-charge of a college, I would have made few courses compulsory for the students apart from regular classroom course, keeping in mind about the future technological trends, growth in various industries and so on like Digital Marketing, Automation, etc.

If I would be the in charge of our college, then the very first thing I would do is to request the university to change the academic year 2020-21 into 2020 or 2021. Because education is one thing where we should not make any kind of compromise, we should never do like oh it's virus time, let's promote students to next class, let's adjust their previous marks or by just taking online classes, setting teachers free from their duties. If I would have been the in-charge, then I should have make sure that the students are involving themselves actively in the academic and non-academic activities introduced by the department. Also, I would have organized some of the motivation sessions, so that the morale of the students is maintained during these tough times. My main focus would be on their overall development, conducting more quizzes, interaction sessions with their parents and asking them not to get anxious. In the leisure time, they should work on their interest, having fruitful discussion with their parents. -
In my opinion along with the projects and some other academic activities, some intangible aspects should also be added. This amid lockdown is the best time to be a better version. Technical knowledge is what we always learn but I would suggest something different during this challenging period. We can work on our leadership skills, critical thinking and may throw some light of the spiritual side of knowledge as well. I am highly assured that this will assist us to be a better being with better understanding of any situation. I would have done the following:-
- Make lectures more engagement-friendly and practical-oriented.
- Conduct e-competitions to not only encourage and engage but also motivate the students.- Conduct MCQs based exams at regular intervals for quick revision and easy checking. -
As the administration has to deal with the current adverse situation so online classes, lecture and tutorials are compulsory. In addition to this, monthly assignments shall be provided to the students and on the basis of combined marks scored by the student and the end of the term, grading or marking of final assessment shall be done. This will reduce psychological pressure on the students as well as on the administration also.

As of this situation, online lectures are conducted by every college but to be unique and different from others, we can assign daily tasks to the students so that they stay active every day and also take follow ups regarding tasks which will help them to improve their skill. They should be given different projects and presentations. Taking only online lectures is not useful without any assignment or project.

Instead of conducting online exams, students should be allowed to work on projects and enhance their skills. A viva can be taken and marks can be evaluated on the basis of performance by the student.

Well, in my opinion, an online classroom can never be a substitute, especially in the case of a B-school learning because the entire pedagogy is based upon the classroom discussion among students. The professors are more of moderator among the various beings put because he or she doesn't know the right answer to the situation or be the case solution in B-school Jargon terms. In these current times, what could be done is to make the students improve on the knowledge building, get them to know the theoretical concepts of Business learning. 4 years agoIt will be better if institutes will assign tasks and projects to the students for their learning. At this time, it is not possible to conduct exams. -
During the period when students cannot come to the college it would be a good idea to assign a pilot project or a live internships to each student. In this way, they can implement their learnings and more importantly, gather relevant points for their CVs in regard to upcoming placement session.

As we all know, the Covid-19 pandemic is taking a great lead throughout the world. So, it is now the duty of all the colleges to act wisely. While online classes are already given a head start, it would be a great idea if we just planned the coming weeks more carefully. Therefore, if I were the in-charge of my college, I would have focused on making the schedules a priority. I would have planned the coming session and online sessions wisely and circulated them with students by taking their advices and opinions into consideration.

I would have done the following things:
1. Made online classes more regular and engagement-friendly.
2. Made all previous records like internals marks, attendance, assignment marks available on the college websites as it would have eased the burden of teachers and made easily accessible for students.
3. Contacted with various online research portals so that students can access them at their home while using college's name.
4. Conducted MCQs at regular intervals for quick revision and easy marking.
5. Designated a number or emails wherein students can ask their queries related to the current scenario. -
As we are at the end of the academic year, we must shift to the online classes. It can help students to go through the information even sitting at home and appear mock tests conducted by the college. If students are facing any internet connectivity issue then it will be better to record the sessions so that it can be useful whenever it is required and make use of it. Many textbooks and other academic books are also easily available nowadays so that students can easily access information through the links provided. It is must to follow the updates mentioned on a particular college website. -
Being an MBA student, I would do the following -
1) Give online access of books by coordinating with the library in charge.
2) Encourage discussion on Zoom or Skype.
3) Assist teachers in recording lectures for students.
4) Be in contact with the college management to stay updated with the latest news.
5) Organize e-competitions to encourage students and keep them motivated.
6) Co-ordinate with college professors to review various business strategies while carrying out research for sustainability.
