IIT-Kharagpur is one of the old IITs and one of the premier institutions in the country. I don't think you need to worry about the placements if you are going there. The brand name itself is enough. Many students from IITs and NITs finally end up in different sectors than engineering and what defines them is their college and not their branch.
Anyways, industrial engineering has a good scope and also has decent placements around 85% (approx).
