How are the placements of BE (honors) civil engineering in BITS, Pilani?

Hello, There is no need for me to provide an introduction to BITS-Pilani and its students. BITS-Pilani has many branches in India and out of country also. And definitely, its placement is good. In 2017 batch placement, an average salary of Rs. 11.07 lakh was offered against Rs. 10.33 lakh last year. The highest on-campus international package of Rs. 60 lakh was offered by Tokyo-based work application. Also, one of Japan's largest company, Daikin, offered a package of Rs 59.5 lakh. California based cloud computing software company Nutanix offered the highest salary of Rs. 35 lakh for a domestic role. The other top paymasters included Schlumberger (Rs. 32 lakh), Arcesium (Rs. 29.5 lakh), DE Shaw (Rs. 28.5 lakh), Amazon (Rs 27 lakh). It includes all type branches of engineering. In the university's three campuses i.e. Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad, 646 recruiters came this year which is almost 38 more in number than last year. The placement season at BITS-Pilani commenced in August, and according to reports, the highest domestic salary package offered this session stands at whopping Rs. 28,00,000. Birla Institute of Technology as the name is itself a brand and renowned in the country. The degree in engineering from BITS can land you to dream job if you are capable enough. Degree in civil make you leaders in the field. Of various complex construction, design, project, railways, highway project , bridges and many more which means you will have to handle a great complex situation in your career initially but as you will gain experience you will be a master in your field and you will find it easy for you to easily get recognized. The institute is good in terms of infrastructure, faculty, facility, collaboration, placement etc so it will be easier for the student to get the opportunity of their choice. The minimum package as per the data available is Rs 4 lakh per annum, average package is about Rs 8.16 lakh and highest being Rs 13 lakh per annum offered to civil engineering graduate from BITS. So don't worry about package initially you will gain experience package will grow automatically as per experience and knowledge.Hope this information helps.

The BITS Pilani is one of the leading institutes in India. The placements is really good. But coming to civil branch, Civil Engineering placements are low in general because most site engineering jobs, including with the biggest of companies like L&T are based on how much margin does the company make and Technological companies and projects are scalable without increase in manpower. Big companies like L&T, TCE recruit at entry level positions and pay BITSians pay scale, for the same role, which will seem very less compared to the peer packages at IITS. Some construction Companies recruit students and pay high packages of 6-7 laks like lodha industries. Civil engineers desire to get the government jobs mostly but government firms do not enter the placement process. They conduct different exams and nearly all students prepare for it. The civil engineering placements are matter of concern in every college as private jobs with very higher packages are less available. You can say about other branches placement with proud when talking about bits. But civil engineers most prefer government jobs preparation.

The matter with Civil placements nowadays is that the jobs are pretty less compared to the number of students graduating every year. That's why even in premier institutes like IITs, NITs and BITS you will see Civil lagging as compared to other departments. The entire civil sector is on a slow growth path as of now so can't blame any particular college for low placements. Civil engineering packages are pretty low as compared to CS packages from Pilani. But, they are all right if entire engineering community of engineers is considered. Average package for civil is usually around 5.5 LPA. However lot of civil students prefer doing some finance courses and work in banks or consultancies where they get higher package. Some prefer to study further or go for MBA or GATE etc. One of the reasons for this is may be that, very few core civil companies come for campus placements. Some of the companies that visit for Civil placements are Nagarjuna Fertilizers, Schlumberger, Cairn, Shell, UOP Honeywell, Reliance Industries, ExxonMobil, SEPAM, UAE, etc.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS)-Pilani is one of the top private engineering colleges in India. This college helps the eligible student for giving the best placement. Civil engineering placement is not so much good as compared to other branches but the same thing happens with all the colleges with civil engineering. Just take the date record of this year 2016-17, placement record in civil engineering for B.Tech/BE student: Maximum package:-Rs 16 Lakh per annum Average Package:- Rs 8.13 Lakh per annum For M.tech/ME Student Maximum Package:-Rs 8 Lakh per annum Average Package:- Rs 5.26 Lakh per annum Companies that come for placement: Pepsi, Apollo, Deloitte, Siemens, Merck, Reckitt Benckiser, MillwardBrown, Toyota, Boeing, KPMG, Colgate Palmolive, Ernst and Young, Hero, Reliance Retail, Piramal, Tata Motors, Redington, Smith & Nephew, Big Basket, Rubique at all 211 company came for placement here. Overall placement is good average placement is Rs. 9.74 Lacs per annum and all student will get a decent salary with a lowest package of 3 Lacs.

If we talk about placements in Civil engineering department of BITS Pilani for undergraduate course, then we see a maximum package of around 16 lakhs and average is around 8.13 lakhs as per previous year statistics. Lot of big companies come for the recruitments here .There is also opportunity for placements in two practice schools. Practice school is a concept where student go for a 6 month industrial exposure to various industries. The students showcase their talent their and if company likes their work, they are offered a Pre placement offer. Thus students are having a chance of bagging two offers and then deciding on their choice of which company to join. Apart from this, students opt for PhD and MS programmes abroad and get scholarship guidance from the institute. Apart from the options above, there is a chance of becoming an entrepreneur by opening a start-up and there is guidance from entrepreneurship cell available here. Thus, there are lot of options for you once you come to BITS Pilani.
