How are the placements of BE (Hons.) Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from BITS, Pilani?

Hello, Electronics & Instrumentation at BITS Goa is a good program. You'll get excellent opportunities in the field of electronics and computer science. Not many students choose to go to the instrumentation side, mostly because it doesn't seem so lucrative in India. And as far as the placements are concerned ,typically, students who stick to tech end up working in the VLSI/embedded area (TI/ Intel/ Qualcomm/ Broadcom), networking area (Cisco/ Tejas Networks), or software (Oracle), which is where you'll find opportunities in India. Average salary package offered is also pretty high around 9-10 lakh per annum and the highest package goes easily upto 30+ lakh and atleast 80% of the students appearing for the recruitment process get placed. For further studies, there are plenty of upcoming areas in research like bio-instrumentation (brain-machine interface, body sensors), computer vision (object recognition), wireless sensor networks (Internet of Things) and Robotics. Electronics and instrumentation engineering from BITS is one of the topmost sought branches after CSE. Companies like Flow traders (80 lakhs), Qualcomm, Nutanix (40 lakhs), Uber (40 lakhs), Myntra (29 lakhs), Amazon (29 lakhs), Texas instruments, ST microelectronics, Intel, Oracle (22 lakhs), McKinsey, JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs visit BITS for placements. There is also an opportunity for placements in two practice schools. Practice school is a concept where student go for a 6 month industrial exposure in various industries. The students showcase their talent and if company likes their work, they are offered a pre-placement offer. Thus, students are having a chance of bagging two offers and then deciding on their choice of which company to join. Apart from this, students opt for Ph.D and MS programmes abroad and get scholarship guidance from the institute. Apart from the above options, there is a chance of becoming an entrepreneur by opening a start-up and there is guidance from entrepreneurship cell available here. Thus, there are lots of options for you once you come to BITS-Pilani.

Frankly, you should consider taking Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering principal on only if you're really interested and passionate about this branch because if the campus placement is the only parameter for you then it would be really difficult for you to get into your dream company as the number of electronics and instrumentation companies visiting the campus for the placement drive vary each and every year. Although the placements are not bad at all being right after computer science branch in BITS-Pilani. You can expect an average placement package of around 17 LPA as the student quality in BITS-Pilani is excellent and each and every company readily wishes to recruit students from this department. The highest placement package offered to the students of the same branch was around 50 LPA for the year 2017. Also, you have a number of options open for you to do your Master's degree programme if you are really interested in the same. I hope this answer helps you. Good luck and cheers.
