How can I crack TISSNET in 1 year?

Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai is popularly known as TISS offers a range of Masters' programs at various campuses. You are required to have a strong knowledge of it. A habit of regular newspaper reading and magazine reading will be a great advantage. Reading good books of GK such as GK yearbooks will provide good information. Due to its vastness, this section can be little challenging. Student are required to stay in touch with all the topics and shouldn’t leave any of it. This is because the candidates should broaden their knowledge horizon. Candidates need to polish their concept skills in every area, especially the ones mentioned above. And for this, one can refer to NCERT books of 10th class. Practicing across the similar questions for this section will cement all the concepts of the candidates. Candidates can refer to question banks of different topics. Practicing mock tests is a great way of preparation. TISSNET mock tests will surely help the candidates in building up the required test skills which includes striking the perfect synchronization between speed and accuracy, tie management and prioritization of sections. Solving as many questions a day as you can, will not only improve your mathematical skills, but it will also develop your accuracy and speed. Preparation can be of three types: self, self plus coaching, coaching. It depends on whether you are a working professional or a student. So, if you are working you have to prepare either by self-using the correspondence booklets or you can take the option of taking weekend coaching classes. Also, you can buy some famous books used for the preparation of MBA entrance exams. But if you are a student then you have a good amount of time to prepare. So you can use the correspondence course and books initially for self-preparation and later can join coaching classes for brushing up your preparation with added techniques. So, any MBA entrance exam has generally three sections- quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning & data interpretation and verbal reasoning along with the study of general current affairs. So, depending on your strengths, weakness and speed, prepare the three sections accordingly and nail the exam. Note: Prepare thoroughly for social sensitivity section and be updated with the social issues in the past one year especially before the exam. Newspaper reading is a must for it.

TISSNET preparation tips: Make your plan according to the time you can give for the preparation on a daily basis. Work on your plan and identify your weakness and strength. Try to plan and identify above stated things within a week. Set your plan agile and keep buffer time for revision and solving mock test papers. Start with your verbal and quantitative practice in parallel. A year can change the game. Keep positive! Solve questions in a specified time frame this will help you in doing questions in time. Maintain a good balance between your accuracy and solving time. Be focused and calm. For the last month keep all the formulas and tricks handy and revise on a daily basis. Remember not to be emotional while solving or appearing for exam. Manage your time wisely.

The practice can be divided into three categories: concept driven, practice oriented and General awareness oriented. For concept driven areas like mathematics and some areas of English proficiency brushing up the fundamentals is definitely needed to increase your competence. Logical reasoning and verbal reasoning need a lot of practice so practicing good number of similar questions is needed to gain the desired level of comfort in those areas. General awareness section has current and static components. This section will be very challenging mainly because of vastness of the subject. The areas to focus more in this are: current events, significant political events from India and worldwide, history, literature, famous personalities, and some debatable topics. For other areas making the foundations strong by understanding the concepts well and application oriented practicing helps a lot. Last but not the least one must take a lot of mock tests. This will help in developing various other skills that are needed for cracking the exam like time management, prioritisation and balancing speed and accuracy.
