You need to pass the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and have an appropriate undergraduate degree in order to be admitted to IIT Madras' M.Tech program. Given how hard admissions are, having high GATE scores is essential. Verify that you fulfil the educational and technical requirements for the particular M.Tech specialisation that interests you. In addition to submitting academic transcripts and GATE results, applicants may also need to complete a written exam or attend an interview, depending on the specific criteria of the program.

IIT Madras admissions for BTech are entirely entrance-based. To secure a seat at top BTech specialisations at IIT Madras, candidates must qualify for JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced with a good rank. Candidates who passed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate are eligible to sit for the respective entrance exam. Candidates will be selected based on their past academic records and scores obtained in the respective entrance exams. Furthermore, the selected candidates will be allocated seats through the JoSAA Counselling process.
