<p>Obviously, the hiring process at LSU is very much competitive where you have to compete from the native as well as foreign students (about 1500 international students).</p><p>Employment Related to the Student&rsquo;s Field of Study: This type of employment authorization is called optional practical training (OPT) for F-1 students and academic training (AT) for J-1 students. OPT and AT may be performed prior to the completion of a student&rsquo;s degree programme or after graduation and may be full- or part-time. Practical training prior to completion of studies is usually limited to summer and vacation periods, unless paid employment is part of a student&rsquo;s degree requirements. &nbsp; Students in F-1 status are eligible for up to 12 months of OPT under most circumstances. &nbsp;Most students in J1 status are eligible for up to 18 months of academic training. There are a few exceptions, so it is best for the student to consult his or her international student advisor provioded by the university.</p><p>You have to start preparing for the hiring process from Day 1. You can also opt for off-campus placement by consulting the university.</p>
