How do I learn cinematography without attending film school?

The very first thing comes on mind after reading this question in, Is it possible? And the answer is, yes, it's possible to learn cinematography without attending film school. Learning Cinematography by own : Figure out ways to get the shots you want, especially in a way that's better than hand-held. A mobile phone's video is a start, but you probably want to practice with a tripod at some point (can be very cheap), and then SEE what other tricks you can come up with such as wheeled chairs, swinging contraptions, in-vehicle shots. Use what lights you have to "paint with light". Honestly, cinematographers range between artists who do just crafting shadows and colors and emotion into their imagery.

You can also take help from various YouTube tutorials for the same too. All the best.

If you are really into cinematography, you don't need to go to film school. You can learn it by yourself. Takes a whole lot of hustling though. - Watch movies/films/videos you like. Check out who are the creative minds behind these creations. - Check every possible information you can find about these people. Why do they do the things they do? How do they do it? What techniques, equipment do they use? Whats the result? - Check for videos about different cinematographic techniques and try to get different points of view. - Roll up your sleeves and start creating. From filming to editing in post-production. - Make sure you finish your project. If you're not happy with the end result, no problem. You probably might never be. Write down what went well and foremost what you didn't like about your creation. - Start all over again at 1. Repeat. Hustle. Grind. In my opinion, it's most important to gather as much information as you can possibly find and take in as much knowledge as you can. You'll probably forget a lot of your newly gained knowledge, but that's okay; its a process. Then you should start creating. While you create, you will use all knowledge which is already embedded in your system, or you can look op some knowledge you know you've read somewhere and implemented this. After creation, it is time to reflect and by this time, you will probably have more knowledge than you knew before. Start again with looking for new information. Learn as much as you can. Create the resources you have. Reflect. Start over again.
