How is the mess facility of LPU?

As I am an alumnus of this University I would like to share my personal experience as I have stayed in the hostel and opted for mess facility during the course of my degree. Hygienic and fresh food was served everyday Food tasted good and everyday different dishes were served. Most importantly the food was served on time as per the fixed schedule. So overall I can say I had very great experience with the mess at LPU.

It is equipped with the modern cooking apparatus / equipment to ensure quality, cleanliness and hygiene. Mess facility includes Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea & Snacks and Dinner. Students can avail the mess plan two days prior to the start of the academic session and will be required to leave it within two days after regular exams. For availing Mess Plan after the end of academic session for any purpose like summer school/ reappear examination/ make up examination/ PEP/ EEP classes etc. , an additional proportionate fee for mess and its administration will have to be paid by the student, subject to the availability and permission for mess plan. LPU also has a non-veg mess (third-party vendor) so you can opt for the plans accordingly.

Such a wide variety one cannot even imagine in a college hostel mess. The hostel has North Indian, South Indian, Rajasthan, haryanavi, gujrati, north eastern Regional messes. A student can choose the food as per his or her taste. The quality of food is good. Parathas, Butter, Curd, Milk, Tea is served at breakfast. In lunch Dry Vegetables, Dal, any Gravy item, Rice, Chapati and Raita are served. The dinner Chapati, Seasonal Vegetables, Rice and Desserts. 1) Standard Mess - with four meals 2) Standard Mess - with three meals (I. e. without lunch) 3) Basic Mess - with three meals (I. e. without evening snacks) 4) Basic Mess - with two meals (I. e. without lunch and evening Snacks) 5) Ala Care - Choice of Dishes 6) Ala Care - Choice of Cuisines & Dishes There are kiosks in and arounf the hostel where you can have food of your choice like chat golgappe, momos, samosa etc. Food Kiosk, branded Food Giants like Cafe Coffee Day, Dominos etc. Are also there at LPU where one can occassionally go to tingle one's taste buds. Stale food is not served at LPU. The food inspectors keep a strict vigil on the food served. Food is not a problem at LPU.

More than 20000 students reside in the on-campus hostel and nearly &get;15000 avail food service. All the hostel have their own mess facilities. Governed by the separate department in the university, the hostel food is GOOD, like I said not HOME WALA GOOD, but GOOD. What you get is a planned diet, with salads, protein, vitamins, lentils, etc. No stale food, like the one which you might get in a restaurant, stalls, etc. Every meal is freshly prepared for a hot meal. The food inspector which tends to raid the hostel mess, ensures the workers to provide the optimum hygiene and quality use of products. One after the tiresome day can have a hot meal in a timely manner. Sometimes during some festive day like Diwali, Holi, they surprise you with some different meals. The main point is the cost as well, At around 30000 per annual, in less than 100 rupees per day, you are getting unlimited hot Breakfast/Lunch/Snacks and Dinner. Oh my, where will you get that otherwise? It will be light on your pocket as well. To tingle your taste buds, you can always skip meals and eat outside for a change. LPU focuses on giving a balanced diet to the students as per nutrients needed. The menu is full of sumptuous variety understanding individuals appetite, palate and food preferences LPU designs various options of food for the children. The details of various options being provided to the students are: Choice of Menu Option A: Standard menu- The standard food menu is the same existing option being provided for breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea with snacks with unlimited quantity for most of the items. Option B: Basic Menu- The students are now also given to opt for Basic Food menu which will have limited items with fixed quantity for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner only (No tea with snacks will be available in Basic food menu). Choice of food (North Indian food or South Indian food) Option A: North Indian food - The students have a choice of North Indian food in both Standard menu and Basic menu. Option B: Regional (South Indian) food- The students have a choice of Regional (South Indian) Food in the Standard menu and Basic menu.

To provide students with more flexibility and increased choice of food varieties, the university is providing more options to the students in selecting the mess, flexible food options, etc. Understanding individual appetite, palate, and food preferences LPU designed various options of food for the children. <p>As a hosteler in LPU, I really enjoy my meal in mess. I know it is like home cooked food but LPU provides the healthier food to students. It is not so much spicy not oily and also hygienic.</p><p>There is proper south indian and north Indian mess. Different kind of dishes are prepare according to that.</p><p>There are 3 types of mess:</p><ol><li>Basic mess: In this breakfast, lunch and dinner.Students can eat unlimited food for breakfast lunch and dinner but not snacks are provided.</li><li>Standard mess: In this, they provide breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are provided unlimited food with snacks.</li><li>Ala carta: In this, student can order according to their wish and they can make according to student's wish.</li></ol><p>Best quality food provided in lpu's Mess, without any second thought you can choose mess service.</p>

Mess Plan may be offered in 3 different categories i.e.&nbsp;Standard Mess, Basic Mess&nbsp;and&nbsp;Ala Carte.</p><ul><li>Standard and Basic&nbsp;plan includes option of&nbsp;North Indian/ South Indian/ Rajasthani/ Haryanvi/ Gujarati/ Eastern/ North-Eastern Cuisines.&nbsp;North Indian and South Indian cuisines can be opted in the same hostel mess or at centralized locations. Regional cuisine is available at specific locations only.</li><li>Basic Mess&nbsp;Plan offers a limited Quantity of food and items.</li><li>Ala Carte - Choice of Dishes&nbsp;plan includes option to take any available dish from any cuisine. For example, in lunch, student may pick a few dishes from available North Indian menu and a few from available South Indian menu and a few from some other cuisine. In dinner, student may opt differently as per his/her choice. This Mess Type will be served at selected locations that may be outside the allotted hostel.<br>The hostel mess provides very tasty food. The food supervisor regularly conduct inspections in mess to ensure the hygiene and quality of food served to students. The best thing to do is firstly opting for mess. Because eating a healthy balanced diet is important part of maintaining good health, and help you feel great. And LPU totally focuses on students diet as per nutrients needed. Option B: Regional (South Indian) food The students have a choice of Regional (South Indian) Food in Standard menu and Basic menu. Recently LPU allowed non-veg food to their students. They have tie-up with a food factory and opened a non-veg. Food store near BH 4 ground. Students can go and eat non-veg food. Apart from that, they have a lot of options. Available for non-veg food at law GATE or near the main GATE also. But if we talk about veg food students have n- number of options available inside the university also. LPU's non-veg mess facility is totally managed by an external vendor. The mess fee is also directly paid to an external vendor. One of my South Indian friends adopted for the same mess as they are fond of non-veg food, he told me that the fee was around 27,500/- per semester for non-veg food.

In mess, LPU provides different states food to students that do not feel homesick at the hostel. Every hostel has its mess. There 3 plans of mess available at LPU. 1. Standard Mess-with four meals (North Indian/ South Indian/ Rajasthan/ Haryanvi/ Gujarati/ Eastern/ North-Eastern) 2. Basic Mess- with three meals I. e. , without evening snacks 3. Ala Care (choice of dishes) An extra mess is also available for Day scholars that is called central mess where students pay and eat from there. The central mess is divided into 2 parts : 1. North Indian 2. South Indian If students can eat according to their choice. THANK YOU!
