How is the mess food at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology?

<p>I found from a source that the mess food is great if one is a non-vegetarian. You get chicken 4 times in a week. Mutton is usually served once in 15 days, though it depends on the Mess Secretary. Prawn also has a similar frequency like Mutton.</p><p>In breakfast, the idli is great compared to the roadside ones in Burla, since the roadside ones make the idlis very hard that you can use it for stone-pelting. Also Aloo Chop, Dosa, Chowmien etc. are served in breakfast, and are better than the roadside ones.</p><p>In lunch, for non veg days, fish is a must, and the fish is quite good. Recently the quality of dal has improved, as I have now perceived to be.</p><p>For a vegetarian, there is not much option except some vegetable dish and panner &amp; mushroom as premium items.</p>

<p>There is no doubt that no food can compare to your &ldquo;Maa ka haath ka banaya&rdquo; khana. So the new hostel-comers will face se problems initially adjusting to the mess food in the hostel.</p><p>In comparison to the food available outside, mess food just wins, hands down. I have been a dayscholar for a total year, and have tried different outlets in Burla. If you want food that doesn't burn a hole in your pockets (you cannot afford to eat daily in an expensive restaurant) and the food must be tasty, also hygenic, then the mess food wins in this category.</p><p>The mess food is great if one is a non-vegetarian, &nbsp;you get chicken 4 times in a week. There are atleast 2 items of chicken and the rice is of a superior quality than normal days. In Grand Feasts, you are served snacks in the evening (ranging from burgers to manchurian) and after lunch cold drinks and ice creams.</p><p>And on biriyani days it is just awesome to taste the chicken biriyani, one usually gets more than he can eat.</p><p>If you compare all these compared to the 14000 INR (earlier 12000 INR) we pay every semester, the hostel mess is definitely a value for money.</p><p>For the healthy part, I have seen very few cases of food poisoning, and the mess secretary has an added responsibility to ensure hygiene and stuff, but yes it can be improved .</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
