I found from a source that the mess food is great if one is a non-vegetarian. You get chicken 4 times in a week. Mutton is usually served once in 15 days, though it depends on the Mess Secretary. Prawn also has a similar frequency like Mutton.

There is no doubt that no food can compare to your “Maa ka haath ka banaya” khana. So the new hostel-comers will face se problems initially adjusting to the mess food in the hostel.
