How much of CGPA is required to be maintained in order to get good placement in LPU?

Shortlisting criteria for placement always differ from company to company. It purely depends upon the requisite Job profile or domain of that particular company. As per my knowledge, companies always keep shortlisting criteria nominal instead of bare minimum. During my study at LPU, I go the opportunity to work very closely in the Placement department as Student Placement Coordinator. As per my understanding before talking about final placement one should consider about steps of getting shortlisted in the campus placement drive where CGPA plays an important role. As per my experience, CGPA kept as nominal by most of the companies as shortlisting criteria. Final Placement depends upon many other parameters set by the prospective employer as per the requirement of that particular job profile. LPU always considers student's career interest/pathway in the following 4 ways, 1)Corporate Job 2)Government Job 3)Higher Studies 4)Entrepreneurship Students just need to select their pathway elective subjects to continue with their placement-related training. Accordingly, students are provided with PEP (Professional Enhancement program) classes from the very first semester with which students' all-round development like Soft Skill, Interpersonal Skill, Combination Skill, etc. LPU possesses dedicated 3 Nos. Of Centre of Professional Enhancement Cells consists of highly qualified & Industry Trained professional / career trainer. These cells used to work round the clock to develop students' industry proficiency skills to make them Industry ready from day 1. Curriculum & pedagogy subjects are developed accordingly. It's having a dedicated Division of Career Services which does work round the clock for the placement of the students. LPU is having tie ups with multiple foreign Universities which provides excellent International exposure under students exchange programme during their studies which in turn definitely helps the students in grabbing multiple job opportunities at the end of their studies. I am alumni of Lovely Professional University,I did MBA from this University and I would say LPU is one of the best choices indeed. It provides for multiple industrial exposures,live projects,an updated curriculum rigor and technology along with very good placements and personality development. LPU is helping me grow professionally and personally with its career-oriented programs and support. If you want to score good CGPA in any programme ,be regular in your class,dont miss the lectures because if you maintain more than 90% attendance, you will get marks. Now marks of all four section will be added and it will decide your final TGPA of semester.Your total marks will added and final grade is depends upon the performance of other students in that subject.If highest score in that subject is low then your grade will be high even if your marks is less and vice-versa. Believe me guys, once you get shortlisted to sit in a company, CGPA doesnt matter at all. But, concentrate more on the word SHORTLISTED. If you are not shortlisted, you will not be able to even sit for the company exam. Thats the reason CGPA becomes the most important thing in university. Now, heres the tricky part. What if you are always getting shortlisted but you dont have the skills which companies actually want from you, You dont have that personality, that aura, that technical knowledge or those coding skills? In my batch, I have seen both types of students. One was those who were unable to appear in much of the companies because of CGPA issues but when they got even 1 chance they bagged the Job. Second types were those who were always getting shortlisted for each company but still were getting rejected from companies because they lacked those skill set which company wanted. So to conclude, I would say, CGPA holds importance till you are shortlisted for a company. After that, during interviews/GDs/Case Studies, companies will not care if you are a 10 pointer or 7 pointer. So, try maintaining a balance between studies and extra co-curricular activities. Build your coding skills if you want to get into software company. Build your public speaking skills and Team working skills if you want to work in a consultancy firm. Build your core technical knowledge other than that of course books if you want to get into core company of your respective branch. In LPU to get a decent placement, you need to maintain a minimum of 7 CGPA. However if you are taking admission in MBA or B.Tech in CSE or IT like programs then you should try to always score more than 7 CGPA (as much as you can). If you clear aptitude phase and your CGPA is qualifying the company's criteria then what matters is how you present yourself to the interviewer, how you try to sell yourself for corporate life. More convincing you are high package is assigned under your name. The students of LPU has been placed in the top companies with high salary packages.
