How should a student from IIM spend his/her day to ensure maximum utilization of time?

At any B school, there is so much to do but you don't have the time for everything. It is very important to know your priorities. And this need not be same for everyone. For some sports is important, some like to read etc. While you have to ensure you spend time on academics every day it is also important you pursue your interests. Prior preparation for classes, attending classes regularly, listening attentively helps to save a lot of time during exams, quizzes etc. Do not try to procrastinate works which will end up burdening you in the end. Do not get influenced by what your friends are doing because they might have different priorities than you. Also, make sure you take some time to spend on your hobbies etc which will act as stress busters. Engage in activities which genuinely interest you. This way you are not tired working. And try to get enough sleep so that your mind is fresh in the class.

Some of my college professors are IIM-A alumni the only thing which I have heard from them is that they do not get any extra time for extracurricular activities. As, they have a very hectic and vast course if they have to take out time then they have to start learning how to manage time so that they can get extra time. They would be utilizing the time by studying regularly as in IIM's they have to prepare a lot of presentation, assignments etc. In IIMs they conduct surprise quiz, test, etc. so the students have to be prepared every moment for the same. Even they say in the cafeteria all the students are studying or making presentation for some of the subjects. The best way for them is to complete the day’s task in the same day so that they can start fresh from the next day. These are the ways a student from IIM can spend his/her day to ensure maximum utilization of time.

I myself am an IIM aspirant and have read lot about it. Firstly if you are in IIM, Ahmedabad then the academics are really rigorously and hectic. So your main aim should be learning to balance that first. The best way would be studying regularly. Even a few hours daily would be good. Most of your time would go for preparing for surprise quizzes, presentations and case studies in evening and night. So you should also make sure you get proper exercise. Make sure to play some sport or exercise. Don't leave any work pending for the next day, make a habit to complete it on time as the schedule will be hectic. Make sure you read something every day (fiction or non-fiction) apart from academic books. I would prefer nonfiction as it would give you a wider view about the world and the industry.

Hi, I do have some of my friends doing their MBA from IIM. Hardly, they don’t have any time in their daily schedule which is planned in IIM. Classes, assignments and later on case study revolve for 2 years in their life. Still, if want to ensure maximum utilization of your entire day:- 1) Get up early and do exercise a bit so that you become ready for a tough day. 2) Make a habit to make a schedule each night like what you are will be doing next day and what you’re set targets for that day 3) Invest at least 1 hour in a day to learn something new as it will definitely give you an edge over others 4) Complete your all work on the same day as it will help you to start next day fresh and focused entirely towards new targets.
