How should I prepare to enroll for an Executive MBA program?

Executive MBA is an intensive one-year residential or distance learning or combination of residential and distance learning programme created specifically for professionals with 5 years or more work experience. Executive MBA provides students with the same solid foundation in key management concepts and disciplines as a two-year fulltime MBA. Executive MBA course work is built on the basis of those students who have diverse and extensive work experience by virtue of which they will able to related to management theories and concepts. Executive MBA is rigorous as syllabus of two year is compressed in one year. The general eligibility criteria are as follows: (a) Bachelor Degree or equivalent (b) A valid GMAT score (GMAT/GRE scores are valid for three/ five years from the date to the application deadline date of the round in which candidate is applying. (c) Some IIMs have minimum age criteria (d) Minimum 5 years of full time work experience after completion of graduation. You must first earn above credentials to meet eligibility criteria. Candidate selection is based on assessment based on following criteria: (a) Academic background (b) Professional experience (c) GMAT score (d) Personal interviews (e) Statement of Purpose (SOP) (f) Recommendation You are advised to plan and prepare for GMAT examination. Minimum six month rigorous preparation will be sufficient to get a high GMAT score. You may seek external support by way of coaching for GDPI preparation. You will require preparing a good SOP. You may refer to good sample SOP available on web and create your own unique SOP. You may get your SOP reviewed by few colleagues or superior. You must then identify few seniors with whom you have worked or your university teachers who have given you good recommendation letter.

The Executive MBA (EMBA) is a program designed to meet the needs of busy, working professionals who wish to pursue an EMBA degree without interrupting their careers. The EMBA courses are of different kinds, depending on the necessity of the candidates. The courses of EMBA may be of 12 to 24 months, depending on the structure of the course. The course is designed in such a way, that a candidate can study a very niche management practices that are relevant for him and his experience. To enroll for the program, a candidate must write national level entrance test same as for PG degree in management. Good command of people and language is preferred with a relevant work experience in a particular industry. You can prepare for the exam simultaneously on a two-way basis- 1)Taking preparation from institutes 2)Self dependence Firstly, there are various kinds of institutes that enables you to prepare for the exams on a competitive basis. They give you good resources and mock test which helps the students to get a clarity on the performance. They help to prepare for the GD-PI to crack the top tricky interview questions. On the other hand, self-study is very important for an upgrade of the individual students. One needs to get clear on the concepts of the subject that are been taught from the very first classes. Secondly, if the situation does not permit one can study on a self-basis. For this, you can refer to the book of Arun Sharma for quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, & English.

The basic requirement for an E MBA is an Bachelor’s degree that needs to obtained through a valid/recognized university from any stream of your interest. A work experience of minimum 5-8 is required to pursue an EMBA as the skills taught are of advanced levels and not of basics. At times stability is companies is also taken into account for the admission, so you need to keep that in mind and prepare accordingly. GMAT preparation- Not all programs will require the GMAT, but if you are considering a top tier school GMAT scores will be considered. To prepare you can enroll in a preparatory class before the GMAT. This preparation will help you build a base to go ahead with the program, however the criteria for the admissions will be very different for the colleges.
