How to balance your 12th board exams with JEE preparation?

I think now you don't have to worry about it much. Since last year 12th Board marks aren't going to be considered for admissions in Engineering Institutions. But still you have to qualify for writing the JEE exam by scoring decent marks. So I would suggest just study for the unit tests and the mid semester exams in your college a bit and just be acquainted with the stuff in your textbooks. If you prepare for JEE whole heartedly all the numericals in the board exam will be easily solvable. Generally speaking Physics, Chemistry and Maths will not be an issue but if you have some languages or subjects like Computer science or ECE as vocationals then you have to study a bit for each unit test and semester exam. I would suggest be in touch with the boards stuff to an extent. Maybe once a week or so. Most of the people I know only studied one month before the final exam and got 90+ percent. But in that one month your sole focus should be your board exams and maybe an hour or two for JEE preparation.

I have seen many cases in which students failed to score well in boards even after scoring a decent rank in JEE. So one should also focus on board while preparing for JEE. If you have joined any good coaching institute for JEE preparation then you don't have to worry about 12th board preparation. Syllabus of JEE is almost similar to the 12th board. All you have to do is to focus on your writing skills.Most of the coaching institutes conduct separate extra classes for board preparation. I have prepared for JEE from Vibrant Academy-Kota. They conduct extra classes for the boards from November-December onwards. You should keep these points in your mind for better preparation: *Start your board preparation from December. 3 months are enough to score decent marks in boards. Generally coaching institutes finish their courses till November. *Follow NCERT books and solve previous years papers. *Don't spend all your day in board preparation. 3 hours are more than enough. *Your main focus should be on JEE.So try to cover the topics which are common in both the exams.

For admission to engineering institutions, marks from the previous year's 12th grade board will not be taken into account. You must still earn respectable grades in order to be eligible to take the JEE exam. Therefore, I advise you to merely study a little amount for your college's unit exams and midterm exams, and focus on being familiar with the material in your textbooks. All of the numerical questions on the board test will be simple to solve if you give your JEE preparation your all. In general, Physics Chemistry and Math won't be a problem, but if you're taking certain languages or vocational topics like Computer Science or ECE, you'll need to study a little bit for each unit test and semester exam.

It is really a challenge to balance both board and JEE preparation simultaneously and those who do this perfectly would able to score good marks. Here a few method by which one can balance both:- Firstly in class 11th student has to study each chapter accurate and write all the key point in the notebook for quick revision so that chapter remains fresh in the mind and at exam time you can easily rewind these things. Secondly, when you are in class 12th now you have to prepare well. Study every chapter and then keep one best side book for IIT extra knowledge and shortcut because there is no big difference between board and JEE syllabus. After completing chapter from 12th class books go through side book which helps you to gain knowledge and clear your concept which is not cleared by board pattern and after completing through both book. Try to solve previous year question of JEE which give you a rough idea about the level of question. In class, 12th keep more focus on the chapter like Biomolecule, Organic Chemistry, S&P block elements, Solid state, Matrix and determinant, Differential Eq., 3D, Vector, Probability, Electricity & Magnetism, Optics, Modern Physics these are the important portion for both boards and JEE. Never forget to keep a short key point knowledge of chapter ready and always keep it with you so that you can easily revise in your free time. All The Best!!

Hi, Almost all board exams start in March while JEE Mains starts in April which means you have to plan your JEE Mains and Board Exams preparation extremely meticulously. Board exam and entrance exam preparation, both are important when you are willing to get into the top engineering colleges. As a good percentage in class 12th boards will always compliment your JEE Mains score (and vice-versa) to qualify the cut-offs of the top engineering colleges. Here are some tips which can help you to balance both the preparations. 1. Focus on concepts & theory While JEE Main is about practice, board exams are about theory. You have to be at articulating the theory and concepts you have learnt rather than applying them across many questions. Until you have a good grasp on theory & concepts you can do well while practicing for JEE Main. You would be tested heavily on theory and hence this provides a great opportunity for you to get well versed with it and brush up some concepts in more detail as it would ultimately help you in JEE Main as well 2. Have a Plan Before you put pen to paper have a goal and plan in mind. Strategy is key to competitive exams preparation like JEE Main. Use the time for preparing for board exams to optimize your JEE Main preparation. A structured and detailed plan will not just help you focus but will also enable you to see the entire syllabus in one go and then break it down piece by piece. Here, you should be extremely careful not to exaggerate your abilities to complete topics. Be very practical and create a plan accordingly that satisfies boards as well as JEE Main preparations. Trying to do too much will stress you and disappoint you because it is not possible to work all day continuously without rest. Include breaks, naps, and snacks in your plan as well so that you replenish your body from time to time. 3. Complete the Syllabus Make it a point to go through the entire syllabus thoroughly without missing out on any topic. Many students tend to leave out topics because they think they are too easy or too difficult or because they barely have time. Start your preparation early so that you have time to complete the syllabus. JEE Main has questions from all the topics. Make sure you touch every aspect of the syllabus regardless of what you think about them (easy or difficult). You can practice MCQs during the board if you want to. If you have prepared well enough, a week should be enough time to get into the feel of JEE Main again. Chill out for a few hours the day board exams finish, then gear up for JEE Main. Also, if you have more than a week, solve a couple of full portion papers. That way you will be well and truly set for facing the actual examination. Another important thing, which stands true for everyone- JEE Main ALWAYS has some questions pertaining to very out-of-the-way topics, like semiconductors, telecommunication etc. in physics, qualitative and quantitative organic analysis in chemistry, and stuff like Poisons distribution, etc. in Maths. These things will be given in the best possible way in your board textbooks. I'd suggest you to do these topics with a tad extra seriousness. Read and remember the theory carefully; Questions will be mostly based on the text, nothing fancy will be asked. But students tend to ignore these topics, which pulls down the score by quite a bit. So, don't commit that blunder. Those of you aiming specifically for JEE-Advanced- You guys could use the extra motivation of having cracked JEE Main with an awesome score. And believe me, you WILL get a boost of confidence for Advanced if your Main total comes out to be decent enough. Now, for those of you who will have less than a week after your boards, most of you will be from CBSE board. Well, the bad thing is-you don't get much time to prepare. But the good thing is- You are studying for boards from the GODBOOK for JEE-Main; NCERT. A thorough go-through of NCERT will put you miles ahead of others as far as JEE Main is concerned. Inorganic chemistry learnt in this time will also help for JEE-Advanced. So take heart, and cheer up! You guys also have an edge.
