Firstly, it really comes with lots of hands-on. HR is a field which is truly people-centric. If you are already in an HR environment, it would be good to take initiative to conduct activities, arrange key tasks and activities which will directly / indirectly involve the use of soft skills and personality traits. For example, to enhance communication skills, it would be great to have employee engagement fun activity just to talk to people around and know them better. Like, breaking the ice.
