For preparation of JEE Mains and other examinations conducted by CBSE, you need to be very thorough with the syllabus of NCERT of standard 11th and 12th. Apart from that you also need to solve a good number of MCQs from a standard book.

Hello Rewant, It is recommended that you can join an engineering coaching institute as it increases the probability of qualifying the entrance examination. These institutions provide a proper guidance to the student. They also take periodic tests for the student to assess his strong and weak zones

Whenever you complete a chapter of your class 11th and 12th syllabus, you can solve the related questions from IIT/AIEEE solved papers and model test papers.
