    1. Application Status on GOAPS (GATE portal)

    • After logging into the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS), you can check your application status.

    • If there is a defect, the status will show messages like “Under Scrutiny”, “Defect Found”, or “Action Required”.

    2. Email/SMS Notification

    • The GATE authorities will also send you an email and/or SMS to your registered email ID and mobile number if any correction is required.

    3. Correction Window

    • A specific defect correction window will be opened.

    • You'll have to log in to GOAPS, check the remarks given, and re-upload or correct the details before the deadline.

If all the details mentioned in your form are correct and in order, then your application form will be accepted. Otherwise, the defects will be marked and notified to the candidate by email or SMS for rectification within a stipulated time frame.

Yes, Chandigarh University will strongly consider your profile if you have good B.Tech marks, even if you are not appearing for GATE Exam 2026. Graduation marks are the primary criterion for M.E. admission. If you meet the eligibility requirements for your chosen specialization, you can get direct admission without any issue. GATE is not required for admission, and not appearing for it does not reduce your chances. You may also be eligible for scholarships based on graduation marks or CUCET performance, if you choose to appear for it. Academically strong students are welcomed irrespective of GATE participation.

Pursuing an M.E. at Chandigarh University with a GATE Exam 2026 qualification can be beneficial for students aiming for research-oriented paths, including PhD programs. While GATE itself does not guarantee PhD admission, it strengthens a student's academic profile. Fellowship holders gain teaching and research exposure, which can support future doctoral applications. However, students who are not appearing for GATE 2026 can also build strong research profiles through projects, publications, and faculty guidance. GATE is an added advantage, not a requirement, for long-term academic growth.
